Another shoutout in Uppercase Magazine—and I didn’t even mention it until now!

Uppercase magazine nr 66, jewellery & adornments, wooden charms by Sabeth Elberse Studio

So excited to say I’ve been featured in Uppercase for the second issue in a row—this time for my wooden pendant necklaces! I’ve always wanted a necklace with a big statement piece, and I figured, why stop at just one? So I designed three different pendants instead. A UK company called Zap!Creatives helped bring them to life—they’re amazing at turning your artwork into printed wooden charms.

I had my papercut-inspired designs printed on light wood, and they made 20 of each. Some are for sale, but let’s be honest—I definitely kept a few for myself. The pendant with the woman’s face is probably my favorite. Funny enough, it started out as a design for coffee packaging, but I loved it too much to let it go. Now she gets to come with me everywhere, right around my neck.

If you haven’t heard of Uppercase before, it’s a gorgeous Canadian magazine that celebrates creativity in all forms—craft, design, typography, illustration. I’m beyond honored to be included again! Ads-free, with high-quality production values and a unique design aesthetic, the content of each issue is eclectic and inspiring."

As you can see, there is one picture with black paper cutouts. So when I scanned them in, I can play with the size. So the hair got shorter, the eye’s more Liza Minnelli and the mouth I cut later when I knew what kind of face it became.
